French 1930s Acid-Etched Vase • Signed by SchneiderItem #1001 A beautiful
and straightforward 1930s Art Deco fluted glass vase made in France
by the Schneider company. Charles Schneider was an important contributor
to the 1925 Exposition des Arts Decoratifs Modernes and was awarded
the French Legion of Honour in 1926. With his brother Ernest and
sister Ernestine he managed one of the largest art glass factories
in France during the Art Deco period. The works from the Charles
Schneider glass factory used all of the glass making techniques
that were developed during the 1920s. This particularly elegant
piece of glass is perfect with or without adornments and is virtually
a study in dynamics. The light refracts radiantly through the acid-etched
treatment near the top and gradually diminishes as the umber color
deepens near the base. It is a hefty piece of glass that is also
wonderful to the touch. |
