Item #104 SOLD
A fabulous high quality hard porcelain bisque nude figure from the 1920's Art
Deco period, easily on a par with the likes of Sevres or Robj, with regards
to both the quality of the materials used and the sculptural dexterity.
The base is cast with a relief of foliage with a geometric edge and has a tan
wash , the girl is one of the nicest I've seen , beautiful stylised sharp
features, braided hair pulled back and tied, amazing detail right down to
her fingernails and toenails. She is covered with a very pale yellow wash
then the whole figure including the base has a faint sort of iridescent wash
all over. Work of this quality reminds me of Pierre le Faguays or Joe
Descomps.
Impressed mark to the base : DEPOSE, signed by the sculptor Hentin. Also has a factory mark, please see pic below.
.Also has the number 2187 inscribed into the underside. Apart from a pinhead fleabite on the very
bottom edge at the back of the figure she is in perfect original
condition, never been restored.
Dimensions are :16" Long, 5 1/4" Wide, 9 1/2" High.
