15 Piece Susie Cooper Art Deco Expresso Set
Item #1653
This is an exciting Susie Cooper, 15 piece set of the striking modernist china by one of Britain's most reknown ceramicists and dinnerware designers. Green & Black Coffee set with Kestrel pot, sugar, creamer, six cups and six saucers. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Very little crazing and nothing that takes away from the pattern or look. Created in 1933 the graduated black bands on cream background comes alive with bright green detail. In an era of otherwise flowery and whimsical pattern names and embellishment this truly stands out as bold and forward thinking. This pattern is predominately featured in the most important books on Susie Copper and 20th Century Ceramic designers. With the important Kestrel coffee pot!
Today, one usually finds a single cup, a jug or plate at auction. but here is a stunning set of matcing pieces !
Along with Clarice Cliff and Charlotte Rhead, Susie Cooper is famous for introducing vivid colors and avant garde designs to English Pottery and this is one of the finest and most collectable. Her career, highly documented in many books on Art Deco and Ceramics spanned more than 60 years, including her “Deco Era “ work at Crown Pottery in Burslem in the 30s through the 60s and 70s as a master designer at Wedgwood China.
Exceptional Ceramic Vase by Eva Zeisel 1930s
Item #1588
Eva Zeisel a most important 20th and 21st centruy artist and mast ceramicist whose design directions have circumvented almost all styles for the past 70 years. This particular piece offered here is quite exceptional in style and size. Manufactured most likely in German circa 1930's. There is a slight mark on the bottom hard to read, but the repetitive modernist art deco design using these playful colors is quite unusual.

Item #1120
Here's a unique French Art Deco "tear-drop" shaped ceramic vase with an enchanting blue-green glaze, contrasting black details and very unusual gold metallic paint. In any event, this is one good sized, beautiful and hefty vase, perfect with or without flowers and it's in remarkable condition. It is signed "Suzalong 1934".
