We have taken our time and given this wonderful art deco sofa suite a complete makeover. The original restored Art Deco wood frames are magnificent. Beautiful deep brown Mahogany wood with white bone inlay and scalloped treatments on the front of all frames which is echoed by the scalloped design in the back of all 3 pieces. Beautiful sold wood round arms hugs you when you sit down as well. Take a good look at the feet on the wood frames, super details and very nice.
We used the highest quality mohair to give this period restoration it original look and then finished all the edges with the perfect bronzed natural French upholstery nails. We installed (all individually applied) over 2000 nails on the whole set. Its comfortable. Its quite a nice size really, not too large and would look great it your bay window, or in front of a fireplace, the possibilities are there for you to decide.
These art deco cocktail chairs are very dear to me. A lot like the ones my grandfather had in the famous Willis Bar in Detroit Michigan. There are 4 beautifully restored chairs with nice modernist chrome tubing. A special "martini" fabric was used to help set the mood. Just add some gin (light on the vermouth) or vodka if you must. This is a cocktail party just waiting to happen. Believe me, these chairs will help set the mood. Fun and ready to go.
Just completed this wonderful small channel backed two tone mohair art deco sofa. Great size and a great shape. I love the way it just wraps around and certainly two people could fit very comfortably in the nice settee. The colors are a warm rust mohair accented with a kind of sandy color beige mohair. Very complimentary and certainly would make a great statement piece in your home and living environment.
A wonderful pair of cream Art Deco French style leather Club chairs. Stunning Macassar wood frame outlines the shape with installed French nails to the outside for style and detail. Very comfortable seating and a very sophisticated design. These beauties were found in South America and sailed all the way to our port!
This is a wonderful custom made sofa day bed for our shop. These are very handy pieces of furniture, very multipurpose. Great as a sofa, a sleeping bed, lots of storage. We've got one at home and it really has been useful over the years for all of these reasons. The fabric is new, something very unique in a deco style that unfortunately is no longer available. A kind of criss/cross angled lines with a hint of green/gray/beige tone on tone alternating square design. No vertigo here. We got the last of it!
Warm Cherry wood and restored to perfection. Nice to have this set, with both 2 armed chairs and 4 chairs without arms. The fabric is very interesting as well, a kind of neutral layered or ribbed style that has some dimension with the classic finishing touch edged in French upholstery nail work, evenly spaced all around the seat, and back. These would also fit nicely in an office setting with desks and side chairs.
We've just finished this very nice newly made and upholstered modernist chairs. These came out great, something with a rather new color for spring "sea-foam" and it looks wonderful, sits wonderful and will supply you with all the comforts you might expect from well designed and well made chair. These are not JUST for looks. This is a chair we've made in the past, check out inventory #1176. For this particular pair, we have made some adjustment in the size and also the depth. I find these extremely comfortable, in fact, so comfortible, we sold a 3 piece set before we ever had the time to finsih this pair. They are hot!!!!!!
Curvilinear design and rare Macassar Ebony are the key features of these substantial Art Deco Armchairs with their strong Modernist design.
One of the great Art Deco stylists and designers, this wonderful chaise lounge or fainting chair embodies all of the unique attributes surrounding great 1920's French Art Deco style. Purchased directly in Pairs, the frame is original and unrestored with what appears to be a like new period fabric (or at least period style). In excellent condition. The chair has great dimension, portrayed with stylized vines, leaf and fruit carved in a three dimensional style, exemplifies the unique French style that Dufrene, is so well known. The fabric compliments the bleached white chair scalloped edge finish which could easily be touched up or refinished to your liking. The fabric design, with a stylized floral motif is in beautiful gold/black/gray tones. The fabric appears in excellent condition and needs nothing!
Here is a wonderful chair and ottoman. The style is modernist and looks a lot like the "Jazz" chair manufactured in the 1980's. This one, I believe is an original restored chair from the 1930's. The style is great and very striking in the pink and black toned leather. Especially the pink leather triangular lines that amplify the shape on the sides of the chair. It is very comfortable and we recently enhanced the loose cushion construction. When you are sitting in this playful chair you must be stylin!
Art Deco barstools - period. Made with rosewood and gleaming chrome streamline hardware and accents. The cushions can be done in many treatments: The two-tone (brown/cream) leather seat cushions, these have ostrich styled leather with mohair tops. These fetching barstools with strong deco design are built to last.
Offered here today is a fantastic shape and original design of French club or side chairs, sometimes referred to as salon chairs. Not your typical boxy modernist streamline art deco chairs. These have a beautiful curved back, interesting shape with unusual carved arms, a detail often seen in the work by the French artist Paul Follot. We did change the seat fabric (original was worn out) to a nice blending ultra suede, but were able to keep all else original throughout, a kind of African inspired modernist repeat animal print. It is not often possible to do this, but I bought them planning to restore them with this in mind. We have done a nice refreshing on the wood finish, tightened the original copper springs and replaced most of the French nails to create a consistent color all over. It is really a treat to find French fabric like this and be able to preserve the original design and intention of these beauties. They are ready for another 50 years.
We are always trying to take our restored and re-upholstered sofa suites a step further. They have become a sort of trade mark here at Art Deco Collection.com. We are not shy about exploring our design ideas, just look through all of our "sold" items at the bottom of this page (lots of great ideas). This particular set is like no other one we've done before. I was inspired by a recently acquired book on European Art Deco chairs and sofas (I mean we have to get our ideas somewhere). This new idea using the oversized leather welting looks dynamic, in order to really make it comfortable to sit on, we had to insert or recess the welting so if felt natural as you leaned back sipping your dry martini! No problem here!
We are using some of the highest quality materials here, great mohair with some of fines leather skins we are able to buy. We do not spare any cost in these restorations. Of course we love the "tight" cushion seating and the oversized round arms, which not only look great, but you can flip your legs over the size and melt back into either the chair of sofa. Another little detail is the leather channels on the lower front bands of both the sofa and chairs. Its all here for you to enjoy "for a lifetime".
Here's a glamorous vanity stool made of beautiful and rare dark palisandro root wood with a cushion upholstered with creamy white leather.
