This very stylized elegant matching pair of satinwood end tables with that original French flair could not be more useful and practical. Wonderful late 30's to 40's style with lots of detail. Burl wood door fronts book-matched with original brass hardware. The mustache style front wood skirt echoes that stylized design period that exemplifies all that is great about French Art Deco. Very useful, practical and beautiful. High style gloss finish would look outstanding next to your favorite sofa or a wonderful addition to your bedroom suite.
Item #1775 - Added May 15, 2013
A stunning and dynamic pair of Art Deco Candlesticks. The most modernist shape you could imagine and yet still be very simple and elegant. The angular shape allows for a special arrangement, either on a your table, buffet or mantel. Each candlestick holds 5 candles and each candle is organized with detailed machined fittings. The juxtaposition of shapes is marvelous on these with the intersection of circles and squares to accentuate the dynamic design. Very, very solid-heavy and would look great on any table setting etc. etc. etc.

We are so excited to present this very unusual and rare 3 piece sofa suite. Of French origin, this is a project in the works for many years. We purchased this suite about 9 years ago and finally found the inspiration, time and money to restored this original modernist suite. This was approached with complete respect to the original design. The shape is something special and not something you probably will see again, at least on this web site. Please notice the shape, in the direction of the Frankll "Speed" chair, but that is where it ends. Instead of having those typical squared off arms, these more attractive, have a gentle curve, with a very unique stepped back (almost layered). I've never seen this treatment before. We wanted this suite to have a complete restoration, but we chose to go with leather (as the original).
The leather was hand chosen for this project. A very special tanning process with many steps but ultimately hand burnished to give that unique "antique" glazed look. It looks old, but has all the integrity of new materials outside and inside. The original bones are all there of course. It is so beautiful to see I just can't get over how great this looks.. You have to sit in it (so comfortable, guaranteed). The shape and pitch of the chairs just puts one in the right mood and ready to experience the day, the night, the life! For me, of course a "cocktail". Every now and then we get something so unique and the process of completion is a labour of love. This is one of those signature restorations for us. The size is also very nice. Not oversized, check the sizes below.

Here is a wonderful unique statues lamp combination. Cold painted patinated metal all original. The lamp is signed Balleste on the foot of the women, in metal. Very much in the tradition of Max Le Verrier. The stepped marble base allow for perfect symmetry between this lovely deco lady. Great accent and mood piece.Great accent pieces.

We've just finished this very nice newly made and upholstered modernist chairs. These came out great, something with a rather new color for spring "sea-foam" and it looks wonderful, sits wonderful and will supply you with all the comforts you might expect from well designed and well made chair. These are not JUST for looks. This is a chair we've made in the past, check out inventory #1176. For this particular pair, we have made some adjustment in the size and also the depth. I find these extremely comfortable, in fact, so comfortible, we sold a 3 piece set before we ever had the time to finsih this pair. They are hot!!!!!!
Curvilinear design and rare Macassar Ebony are the key features of these substantial Art Deco Armchairs with their strong Modernist design.

Finally a wonderful pair of double bulb and double shade French table lights. Modernist design with black Belgian marble base, sitting on chrome balls, centered by double glass bulbs and a elegant copper plated arm that supports a pair of newly made custom shades. These work great in both giving off light, but also giving a wonderful warm ambient light. We purposely picked a shade that would accommodate light, but these lamps also looked really great with black shades! The sockets are original French bayonet style sockets with the correct 110V bulbs which will work in any home. Lamps have been newly re-wired including the latest French on/off switches as well. Would be great as bedside lamps, sofa side lamps or anywhere you might like to highlight a wonderful pair of original matching lamps.
Item #1770 - Added April 18, 2013
Stunning and striking Art Deco statue lamp of woman holding two globes in crackled glass finish. Classic Art Deco pose and in a very engaging ballet stance. This is a monumental piece, approximately 33" tall.
The bronze patina is lovely and she is rendered with many fine details (focusing on her voluptuous female frame, with perfect feet and hands). She stands on a black/white stepped marble base. There is a signature in the metal base , but it is stamped in way which cannot be easily read. This posture is well known in French Art Deco statuary, and is usually attributed to sculptors Maurice and Marcel Denis and also associated with the foundry owned by Max Le Verrrier. This beautiful statue could be the featured piece in any Art Deco environment.

For whom the bell tolls? That is the question. You do not see these scarce and original novelty shaker by the great house of Dunhill. Silver-plated in perfect condition with original cork stopper. There have been many versions of this classic shaker image, I think this has to be the best and most important for those serious cocktail shaker collectors. Beautifully marked on the bottom with all the necessary information: Made in England, #3447, pat No etc. Great shaker! For Whom the Bell tolls? It must toll for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you were every looking for a highly stylized French Art Deco writing table, I think this may be one of the nicest original pieces I've seen in a long time. The size is wonderful and very useful as a desk, writing table, reception table or small vanity. I love the alternating checkerboard wood edging with these wonderful classic French faceted spindle legs. Some nice features with center drawer and round bakelite knobs as handles. Also, on the each side (left and right), there is a small cut out for storage, books or your favorite bounty.

Very nice original Mueller light, showing some of my favorite Mueller modernist style glass. The copper metal frame, which is quite rare, really sets this piece off. I love the way, the metalwork details matches up nicely with the modernist glass shapes. Quite a useful piece, not your typical fixture with a long drop, so it would be great in a bedroom, office or hallway. Measurements listed below.
Item #1765 - Added April 11, 2013
This elegant 1930s French chandelier is constructed almost entirely of beautifully frosted glass. There are 4 large glass triangular panels with 4 matching tulip style down lights. The somewhat hexagonal main shade panels are supported by an original nickel silver Art Deco frame. The canopy and support metal rods all match the outside metal frame as well. The result is a dazzling fixture, with a very straight-forward and clean design that will elicit endless admiration.

A wonderful and very used Art Deco serving tray. This is particularly unique with beautiful straight grained solid wood Macassar wood details. Beautiful mirrored tray with wood trim, the sets also includes 5 separate glass serving containers. Nice handles for hosting your next Mad Men party. Snack Time could be on the way for you.

Fantastic quality as you'd expect from Christofle. Cut crystal and silver-plate dressing set. Three large cologne/perfume bottles, two pots and clothes brush, all pieces are a substantial size for this kind of group, with the largest bottle being 6 3/4" T. It looks to be in unused condition, probably a Wedding or Anniversary gift. It comes with a fitted box and what is especially nice about this set, its quite useful modernist design pieces are not to large, so would make a great celebration gift, sitting on your personal vanity!
Item #1762 - Added April 7, 2013
Very large and really nice boat model with solid Macassar ebony hull and a full array of chrome sails. The rigging is there and it looks like we are getting ready for America's Cup here in SF. I don't think this one is sea worthy, but certainly would look great sitting in the yachtsmen room. Quite unique, first time we have ever had a boat from this period. French circa 1930's.

Here is a wonderful Thermorex thermometer in a very cool design. Round copper and black lacquer finish. Great condition. Reading in centigrade, but would make a nice office/desk addition. Cool art deco designs like this to do come around often, so please take a good look before its gone. Made by Thermorex, a company that has been around for generations making state-of-the-art bimetallic thermostats and other related products.

Here is a wonderful French clock Art Deco Modernist clock, circa 1930's. This is made using stunning Belgium black marble with silver metal accent pieces. Great shape, lots of nice details with metal speed lines, stepped base and a fabulous Art deco dial with exploding numerals. This is a "key" wind clock, which is great. 8 day movement by Marti, all in great working condition. Would look great on a mantle in an office setting or and buffets over looking all of your Art Deco treasures. Stunning design!

Very cool Art Deco Thermometer, ready to use, ever for the hottest days. This wonderful French piece in original copper finish is in great shape. The white dial with very stylized deco numbers reading centigrade for "red" for very cold to "black" for normal. A handsome Art Deco piece made by Thermorex!
Item #1758 - Added April 5, 2013
This iconic Art Deco sculpture was created by Jean de Roncourt, the most famous French sculptor of the male figure in the 1920s and 1930s. Entitled Le Bendeur (or, in English, The Bender), it depicts an athletic man dressed in a loincloth bending a large metal rod by hand. This sculpture is widely regarded as de Roncourt's best work. The petite bronze metal has beautiful patina, it is impressive not only because of its unusually large size, but also for the quality of the sculpting. Wonderful base with black marble and signed on the marble base base: J De Roncourt.

Here is a fantastic restored French chandelier that may be one of the nicest modernist pieces we have ever had. It was recently surfaced into our inventory and I am very excited to offer this piece for sales. Signed of course Des Hanots, like a beautiful flower with many petals opening to the sun. The quality of light is fantastic and I am sure this will make a huge addition to your home or office. New plating and all original glass. Merci merci merci.

A great looking pair of stepped copper and bronze art deco sconces. So many nice details! The fluted openings allow for a special lighting effect which you can see in the photos. These wonderful American sconces also utilize a lower glass enclosed half-moon disk which casts a mellow downward incandescent light. These are in very fine original condition and the the copper and brass will always polish up to a warm glow.
Item #1756 - Added March 30, 2013
Here is a wonderful pair of sconces they were discovered in our back room this week, in fact we have two pairs (4 pieces in total). These are wonderful with original modernist iron work design and some very unusual glass inserts. Great looking and if you can use 4, don't wait around, these vintage pairs do not come up often like this. The glass is wonderful, it has a rather organized stepped up modern design, very unusual.

This is an outstanding piece of furniture which we've been after for many years. Probably French in origin, and a stunning example of Art Deco marquetry using ivory and or ivoroid edging accentuated with a pull down bubble motif on the front. 3 keys supplied with ivory buttons. This piece has all of the quality, consistency and integrity of a very useful Secretary desk desgin. The inside is very stable with double metal hinges and wood supports that also come out when the desk top is lowered (this is a great feature). A nice inlaid leather writings surface and the inside has nice compartments, drawers and cozy cubby holes for storage. Additionally, there are 4 drawers logically placed below the drop down lid (all with locks that work). The base or lower part of the desk is also beautifully executed with a half round almost U shape structure which has inlay on the bottom, complimenting the total design.

Fresh out of unique theater setting (at least that is what I'm told)! I do love them, very sculptured and very dimensional. These have a striking modernist design with zig-zag metal treatment! They really make a statement. There are 3 colors of glass, the amber front slag panels with triangular tips to the top and bottom. White frosted side panels the can be adjusted inside to outside with just a hint of red glass, in all the right places. Nice original nickel and brass hardware. A very nice sculpted rosette on the back, perfect for hanging these lovely ladies. They even have the old style metal chain pull for on and off. Very unique and I just happen to have two pairs. Something not often found with such a unique lighting treatment. I will sell them separate, in pairs only, but if you need 4 don't wait around, they won't be hanging here long.

I have never seen this set before. Occasionally, a cup shows up, but this is a very rare and complete set. It is marked "Shadow" by Bernard Rice & Sons. Made in their Apollo studio of New York, a division of Bernard Rice's & Sons, Items with the Apollo stamp were made between 1920-1922. This is EPNS (silver-plate). Another important cocktail set made about the same time was called the "Skyscraper" set, probably made at the same studio. This is a very important set in great original condition, very early modernist design!
Item #1751 - Added March 7, 2013
Don't see many of these anymore. In fact, the design on this is quite striking and modernist. Simple lines, beautiful wood base which is connected top and bottom with shinny newly restored chrome. In the old days, people would carry these fashionable smoking ash trays from chair or room: sit back and relax.

We've been looking for a set like this for years. A spectacular restored German Art Nouveau - Jugendstil transition into Art Deco Coffee Service. Stunning in every way. The Tray is large and the handles are all 3-dimensions with carved scroll and jewell treatment. Looks great sitting flat on your coffee table and yet feels extremely important to carry to your most comfortable destination. There are 5 pieces in total: coffee, tea, sugar, creamer and try. The silver is in fantastic condition and shows like a first place trophy. The shapes are graceful and stately with lots of fine details on every pieces. German circa 1920's with markings on the bottom: OX Cologne associated with WMF.

We have been working on getting this wonderful piece ready to sell. Bought this very stylized art deco female silhouette lamp base some time ago. Took some time, but finally had a proper shade made to accentuate the design and detail. Other than the shade, the lamp is completely original in every way. The front design is so stylized and I love this original porcelain socket including a very cool original porcelain on/off switch. Would make a great decorative, artistic and functional light.

Wonderful modernist style Art Deco chandelier with all signed glass by Muller Freres. Circa 1930's unique iron work by Vasseur et Cie with a very unusual Penguin motif (one I've never seen before). All in perfect condition. The lamp has just been rewired and is ready to go!

This has to be one of the most spectacular French Art Deco Chandelier's I've seen for some time. Very unique, completely original and in the kind of near perfect condition we love to find. Things are looking up, what a sight: circa 1930's, each glass piece signed Mueller and the relationship of the iron work and the individual glass mounts makes a stunning display when lit up (or not). Nice size and a very striking piece which would add "spectacular" to any room.

This wonderful Airplane or called Gyroplane made in France is in very good condition. Nice nickel plating with some tarnishing to the nickel plating on the Gyroscope. The box is not perfect, but is intact with instructions and all parts are complete. During this great period of aviation, toys like these were produced but few survive in this remarkable condition.

A wonderful piece of furniture. The size is quite nice and could work for so many applications in your home. Beautiful dark rich Macassar ebony wood front panel face with nice contrasting medium brown Mahogany wood. Pedestal style base that gives it that great French Art Deco Style. The interior is all mirrored with one shelve and the door has a beautiful beveled edge window, outlined in the rich Mahogany. Nice practical and functional door with brass knobs.
Mahogany Sizes like this are rare and a vitrine like this would make a great display for some of your most special collectibles.

What a wonderful piece of furniture. Very unique and taken from an original piece with all the earmarks of an outstanding design. Custom made for our shop, but what a table! Let me point out some features I think are very important.
Beautiful mahogany wood octagon table top (rounded edges) on a wonderful inlayed column with a very significant stepped base. (easy to get any legs under this table). The inlay on the base and boards some "real" ivory and some beautiful woods, with slight patina. The top has one side for chess and the other with a felt top for playing cards. if you remove the top, you will find a wonderful backgammon board.
There are 4 inlayed separate trays evenly spread out on all sides of the table. These could be used for chips, games pieces or cocktails. This is a table that is screaming to be used, enjoyed and appreciated.

This very versatile and luxurious table will charm your senses. Perfectly suited as an end table but can also be utilized as an elegant and refined nightstand. Beautifully artisan crafted of hefty and enduring wrought iron, with scroll and tassel details and finished in a patinated green hue. The top is made of a beautifully polished portoro marble.

Here is something very nice. A perfect size for that rather limited space where you want to put a piece of furniture with lots of personality. Very multi-functional, useful and high style art deco. This piece has many nice details and storage drawers to boot. What else could you need?
Item #1738 - Added Feb. 6, 2013
Although meant for the bedroom this beautiful vanity would be functional in both a living room, entry way or any wall looking to support a really really beautiful piece of original furniture. Made in France during the 1930's and crafted in the most spectacular tight grained amboyna honey aged burl wood. Has a wonderful mirror that fits right into the top of the vanity and is supported through the lower part of the design. Additionally a wonderful elegant asymmetrical shape give so much dimensions to this special piece. I could see it with a nice footstool or highly stylized art deco "Puff" chair. May I draw your attention to the delicate ivory handles with multiple front drawers. A winner!
Item #1737 - Added Feb. 6, 2013
I call this multifunctional piece of Art Deco furniture Deluxe Petite because it's deluxe in materials, style and functionality yet somewhat petite compared to most other consoles I've come across. We do have a pair of these and they could be used dramatically as night-stands in a bedroom. This piece features both a cabinet and a drawer and has been crafted with beautiful hardwoods including Macassar, which has been used on the base and trim-work and a warm Birdseye Maple on the top. It also features parchment and a striking wood diamond grid inlay on the front. Certainly, this stunning piece could alternatively be used as a console (with storage!) along any wall or in a smaller hallway or entryway.
Item #1736 - Added Feb. 6, 2013
Simple but to the point "a punto" a wonderful iron console in the French tradition of "fer forge". This was made just for our shop and we have only one. Nice geometric shapes and details, not too big, not too deep, but would fit great in someone's entry area, living room etc. This one also has some wonderful red or "rojo" color marble, lots of creamy details as well.
