Burl wood door fronts book-matched with original brass hardware. The mustache style front wood skirt echoes that stylized design period that exemplifies all that is great about French Art Deco. Ultra Modernist Candelabras

Ultra Modernist Art Deco Candelabras in new chrome satin finish

Item #1775 - Added May 15, 2013

A stunning and dynamic pair of Art Deco Candlesticks. The most modernist shape you could imagine and yet still be very simple and elegant. The angular shape allows for a special arrangement, either on a your table, buffet or mantel. Each candlestick holds 5 candles and each candle is organized with detailed machined fittings. The juxtaposition of shapes is marvelous on these with the intersection of circles and squares to accentuate the dynamic design. Very, very solid-heavy and would look great on any table setting etc. etc. etc.

Fantastic Rare Art Deco French 3 piece Streamline Sofa Suite attributed to Adnet

Item #1774 - Added May 1, 2013

We are so excited to present this very unusual and rare 3 piece sofa suite. Of French origin, this is a project in the works for many years. We purchased this suite about 9 years ago and finally found the inspiration, time and money to restored this original modernist suite. This was approached with complete respect to the original design. The shape is something special and not something you probably will see again, at least on this web site. Please notice the shape, in the direction of the Frankll "Speed" chair, but that is where it ends. Instead of having those typical squared off arms, these more attractive, have a gentle curve, with a very unique stepped back (almost layered). I've never seen this treatment before. We wanted this suite to have a complete restoration, but we chose to go with leather (as the original).

The leather was hand chosen for this project. A very special tanning process with many steps but ultimately hand burnished to give that unique "antique" glazed look. It looks old, but has all the integrity of new materials outside and inside. The original bones are all there of course. It is so beautiful to see I just can't get over how great this looks.. You have to sit in it (so comfortable, guaranteed). The shape and pitch of the chairs just puts one in the right mood and ready to experience the day, the night, the life! For me, of course a "cocktail". Every now and then we get something so unique and the process of completion is a labour of love. This is one of those signature restorations for us. The size is also very nice. Not oversized, check the sizes below.

Curvilinear design and rare Macassar Ebony are the key features of these substantial Art Deco Armchairs with their strong Modernist design.

Modernist Art Deco French Pair of Table Desk Bed lamps

Modernist Art Deco French Pair of Table Desk Bed lamps

Item #1771 - Added April 26, 2013

Finally a wonderful pair of double bulb and double shade French table lights. Modernist design with black Belgian marble base, sitting on chrome balls, centered by double glass bulbs and a elegant copper plated arm that supports a pair of newly made custom shades. These work great in both giving off light, but also giving a wonderful warm ambient light. We purposely picked a shade that would accommodate light, but these lamps also looked really great with black shades! The sockets are original French bayonet style sockets with the correct 110V bulbs which will work in any home. Lamps have been newly re-wired including the latest French on/off switches as well. Would be great as bedside lamps, sofa side lamps or anywhere you might like to highlight a wonderful pair of original matching lamps.

French Art Deco Style Woman Danseuse aux Boules Lamp

French Art Deco Style Woman Danseuse aux Boules Lamp

Item #1770 - Added April 18, 2013

Stunning and striking Art Deco statue lamp of woman holding two globes in crackled glass finish. Classic Art Deco pose and in a very engaging ballet stance. This is a monumental piece, approximately 33" tall.

The bronze patina is lovely and she is rendered with many fine details (focusing on her voluptuous female frame, with perfect feet and hands). She stands on a black/white stepped marble base. There is a signature in the metal base , but it is stamped in way which cannot be easily read. This posture is well known in French Art Deco statuary, and is usually attributed to sculptors Maurice and Marcel Denis and also associated with the foundry owned by Max Le Verrrier. This beautiful statue could be the featured piece in any Art Deco environment.

This iconic Art Deco sculpture was created by Jean de Roncourt, the most famous French sculptor of the male figure in the 1920s and 1930s. Entitled Le Bendeur (or, in English, The Bender), it depicts an athletic man dressed in a loincloth bending a large metal rod by hand. This sculpture is widely regarded as de Roncourt's best work. The petite bronze metal has beautiful patina, it is impressive not only because of its unusually large size, but also for the quality of the sculpting. Wonderful base with black marble and signed on the marble base base: J De Roncourt.

Unique Zig Zag Theater Art Deco sconces 2 Pair

Item #1753 - Added March 16, 2013

Fresh out of unique theater setting (at least that is what I'm told)! I do love them, very sculptured and very dimensional. These have a striking modernist design with zig-zag metal treatment! They really make a statement. There are 3 colors of glass, the amber front slag panels with triangular tips to the top and bottom. White frosted side panels the can be adjusted inside to outside with just a hint of red glass, in all the right places. Nice original nickel and brass hardware. A very nice sculpted rosette on the back, perfect for hanging these lovely ladies. They even have the old style metal chain pull for on and off. Very unique and I just happen to have two pairs. Something not often found with such a unique lighting treatment. I will sell them separate, in pairs only, but if you need 4 don't wait around, they won't be hanging here long.

We do have a pair of these and they could be used dramatically as night-stands in a bedroom. This piece features both a cabinet and a drawer and has been crafted with beautiful hardwoods including Macassar, which has been used on the base and trim-work and a warm Birdseye Maple on the top. It also features parchment and a striking wood diamond grid inlay on the front. Certainly, this stunning piece could alternatively be used as a console (with storage!) along any wall or in a smaller hallway or entryway.
