Item #903 SOLDPresented here is a historic collection of original Art Deco paintings completed by French artist Jacque Dupont. They were retrieved from a local movie theater in SF on Market Street across from the Fox Theater. These were done in mid 30's during the time when all of Market street was lined with movie theaters such as, The Paramount, The Fox, The Roxy and so on. They were acquired in the 50's by a local SF family, supposedly due to a fire in the theater, like so many deco monuments, the theater was closed and remodeled. The family kept them for over 50 years and they have just been recently framed and offered for sale for the first time. They have a mural like quality, octagon shaped with gilded wood frames. You can see, the stylized art deco female figure in a pictograph of leaves, forest with rich warm colors of brown, orange, green and metallic golds. Offered for sale here are all 3 women: as brunette, red head and blonde. The are large in scale measuring: 60" T X 46" W painted on masonry board. They have great provenance and are without doubt a dynamic collection of Art Deco beauties. |
