Original Art Deco Game table Chess Checkers BackgammonItem #1572 SOLD What a wonderful piece of furniture. Very unique and an original piece with all the earmarks of an outstanding design, circa 1930's! Let me point out some features I think are very important. Beautiful mahogany wood octagon table top (rounded edges) on a wonderful inlayed column with a very significant stepped base. (easy to get any legs under this table). The inlay on the base and boards are "real" ivory and show the beautiful signs of age and patina. The top has one side for chess and the other for checkers, if you remove the top, you will find a wonderful backgammon board. There are 4 inlayed separate trays evenly spread out on all sides of the table. These could be used for chips, games pieces or cocktails. This is a table that is screaming to be used, enjoyed and appreciated. Game tables are like hens teeth to us, we do not get them often and I am sure this beauty will not be around very long. Fabulous Game Chess Card Table French style of master designer LeleuItem #1568 SOLD We've been waiting a long time for this wonderful French game table to arrive. Very beautiful and very elegant, in the style of Leleu. I can't find a signature, but it has all the ear marks associated with this design house. Brass capped feet, brass serrated corner details on mahogany wood with a nice sweeping wood skirt. The table looks to be from the late 40's or early 50's with an interesting top, a kind of asymmetrical kidney shape. Wonderful woods of straight grain fancy mahogany. The chess board is a perfect square and pops out with a simple wood lever to allow for storage under the top and also to turn itself from a chess board into a pretty fancy card table. In quite excellent condition over-all. This kind of table does come around often and this one is especially nice. So get ready to invite your friends over for a nice cocktail and a game of cards or chess, this is one you should serve in your finest lounge wear. Cheers! Measurements: |
Modernist Bauhaus style petit barItem #1494 SOLD Very modernist, simple and stunning Bauhaus style bar. Please take a moment to see the details. This is an original piece with wonderful lines, It opens up from the most simple rectangular form. The top opens to reveal a small compartment for ice, glasses or bottle can be neatly organized in either the upper or lower cabinet. There are two chrome handles which allows you to pick it up and put in any area, but on one side the rubber bumpers allow you to open the lid for a perfect symmetrical opening, allowing the bar to expand to another serving service. Would be great addition to for a special after diner drinks bar, on a boat or in your special entertainment room. The top is in macassar wood, as is the door for the ice storage, the rest of the bar is in a solid mahogany all with a new French polish. Brilliant. Enjoy, Have Fun! I think that is what this little jewel is about. Measurements: |

Art Deco Cocktail or Smoking Table - side tableItem #1439 SOLD Wonderful small table, originally designed as a smoking table, but we took the smoking out of it and made an unusual oval-sapped side table. Perfect for that evening cocktail (my preference) lap-top or I-pad. Love the design and the simple approach using strong lines, nice wood and of course a fabulous finish. Measurements: |
Rare Art Deco Butterfly tableItem #1427 SOLD I have NEVER seen one of these before, although I've heard about them. This is a very unique custom made table from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (One of largest Amazon rainforests in South America). Not exactly sure of the year (1930-1940), but I know it is now illegal to make tables using butterflies. These are now protected species in Brazil and like ivory and other rare usurped natural resources you can no longer buy or take these kinds of items. The butterfly's on this table are protected because they are secured with a piece of glass on the top and a strong solid wood rim holding the glass in place top and bottom. Look how spectacular the butterflies look like a colorful kaleidoscope. This must be the work of some good etymologist, delicately spreading the wings using these quite unusual repeated patterns. Who ever said "butterfly's are free" was not thinking about this table. Another interesting feature is the quality of the wood work. The base appears to be hand turned on a lathe which creates this hollowed out stepped pattern. You can see the knots or grain of the wood also in an unusual pattern shape. Lastly, the table comes apart into two pieces which would certainly make it easer for transportation if one was visiting Brazil and decided to try and take one of these home. It is sturdy, well balanced, and would make a lovley side table or cocktail conversational piece. The table also has all the original labels intact. Measurements: |

1930s Art Deco Iron and Marble Side-TableItem #1156 SOLD This 1930s Art Deco Iron and Marble side-table can certainly be used to support a vase or a statue but I like it best when used as a ring-side (okay, chair-side) beverage table. It's the perfect height to be set right next to a chair or sofa and requires very little bending-over in order to reach one's drink. Seriously, this beautiful machine-age table with its gear-inspired scallop edged top and trio of legs and truly gorgeous multi-colored marble top will become your favorite "everything" table. Its heavy enough to support a large vase and yet small enough to be moved from place to place for those on-the-spot needs. The iron possesses an unusual earthy brown color with an ever-so-slight hint of purple and the marble top is a somewhat similar color to the iron but with white, green, russet, chartreuse, black and...more. 1930s Art Deco Mahogany Game TableItem #1110 SOLD Whether you win or lose, this 1930s European game table will have you doing it with great style and sophistication. Its profile features strong Art Deco stepped design, a brass streamline accent, brass leg caps and the warmth of beautifully grained mahogany. The legs have a unique "V" shape cross-section and a refined taper. As an extra bonus, this table has four hidden brass-lined pull-out ashtrays to keep the players smokin' and the game clean. (And though I'm a big fan of great cigars, I think these cool little pull-out trays could be converted to cup holders/coasters fairly easily.) The fun of playing games old and new - from "Cribbage" to "Pictionary" is truly taken to a new level when you step away from the dining table and take a seat at a dedicated game table like the one we have here. What's more, you can leave the game half-finished 'til tomorrow if the Sandman beckons... The
