Original Bronze Statue of 3 Men by Pierre LaFaguaysItem #1303 Very unique original green patinated bronze state by French artist Pierre LaFaguays. 3 men holding up urn on black Belgium marble base. The style is very theatrical with a point of view maybe styled as marquette for an important exposition. The detail of the 3 men is quite good and the style of the piece takes to around 1925-1930. It is in original condition with no restoration and piece shows some original wear and details. Le Faguays was born in Nantes, France and became famous for the originality and grace he gave his dancers, many of which were inspired by the statues of Tanagra. He was awarded a medal of honor for his work in 1927. His best friend, Max Le Verrier (of the Le Verrier Foundry) made most of (if not all of) his pieces. Measurements: |

French wooden Art Deco Model Airplane "China Clipper" modelItem #1302 Nice French wood & nickel Art Deco plane. Looks like a China Clipper. Art Deco Sculpture LampItem #1291 A most unusual and beautifully articulated French Art Deco Sculpture lamp signed "Limousin". The spectacular jazz age base lights up, illuminating exceptionally fine sculptures of two women. Hand applied gilding adds wonderful character to this stunning piece. Limousin is the region in France where the piece was designed and made. It is typical for ceramics, glass and sculpture to bear the name of the region (such as Lorraine, Nancy, Sevres or Limousin) rather than the name of a specific artist. Be sure to zoom in on the photos to see the manner in which the hands, face and feet were detailed. That is a mark of an outstanding statue and wouldn't this one be just perfect in your home? Cubist style Art Deco Eagle bookendsItem #1247 This might have been the model for American Eagle, but since the piece was made in France and designed by Janle and signed in the metal, I think more of a study on the cubist styling of the bird. The piece has a naturally dark antiqued nickel patina using white metal with a beautiful beveled green marble and white veining running throughout. This eagle has not landed yet, but has an attitude like it will hover over your books with some authority. May have been designed by the famous Max Le Verrier who used Janle as one of his many pseudonyms. Measurements: |

Art Deco Elephant bookends French 1930'sItem #1246 Elephants are good luck, with two you will have all the luck you will ever need. This pair of sitting French Elephants made of white metal with a nickel finish seem to be pleased with their life. Maybe they are a cousin of Babar or maybe they just served time working in the circus. In any case, we all could use a little extra luck and elephants always an appreciating home to sit out their time. Beautiful pink/red marble with white veins. Measurements: |

1920s Art Deco Porcelain Japanese Figure W/ Bird • Marta SchlameusItem #1224 Here's a highly decorative and intriguing 1920s German Art Deco statue from the Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst (Schwarzburger Porcelain Art Workshops). This beautifully detailed and colorful porcelain work of art was designed by the artist Marta Schlameus. The colors comprise a white porcelain glaze, with blue, teal, yellow and black overglaze. Depicted is a young, spry (and rather animated) Japanese man, dressed in a colorful costume while sitting upon a tree stump. A bluebird is perched on his right hand as he looks upon it and gestures playfully with his left hand. The bottom of the base is stamped Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst and U-290. Art Deco Streamline Bookends - Trylon Perisphere New YorkItem #1222 These are probably the nicest Art Deco Streamline book ends I've ever seen. I purchased them years ago in Paris and have just recently restored them. They're constructed with solid Macassar Ebony and they're in perfect condition with no damages or repairs. All of the chrome pieces have been re-plated and they look stunning against the dark wood. The big peach-colored glass balls are in perfect condition with no damages or repairs. They're a fabulous streamline, space-age design with those Saturn-inspired rings around the glass balls. I think they've even got a Trylon and Perisphere NYWF look about them. These are very heavy, substantial bookends and they'll make your reading even more interesting! Measurements: |

1930s European Lioness Serving Tray • HagenauerItem #1219 This 1930s Art Deco Serving Tray most recently hailed from the Czech Republic. It is an unsigned piece but it is noticeably in the style of Austrian sculptor, Franz Hagenauer (1906-1986). It possesses a simple round chrome serving tray fitted with an anything-but-simple handle. A beautifully sculpted, ferocious ebony lioness with a chrome tail and ears (and very pointy teeth) serves as the handle as she leaps across the tray and over the cocktails over and over and over again. The overall design offers a nice balance between textures and detail. From serving martinis to holding dinnerware/napkins, you'll find a multitude of uses for this tray and regardless of the use - you'll not want to let that leeping lion out of your sight! 1930s Art Deco Bronze Pierrot & Pierrette Statue • Pierre LaurelItem #1147 Heres an unusual an quite striking nickeled bronze statue by sculptor Pierre Laurel from the Marcel Guillemard foundry. It depicts the female harlequin, Pierette in strong Art Deco style holding a similarly attired and smaller male harlequin, Pierrot. Her elaborately detailed costume reflects the deco style and coordinates with the little man. Pierrot and Pierrette are the harlequin characters often depicted in Art Deco imagery as the tragic lovers who could never really come together as a couple. This gorgeous bronze statue is signed below Pierrette's feet, Pierre Laurel and also Marcel Guillemard 24 and stands on a beautiful red marble base. The Measurements: |
1930s French Art Deco Boxer Bookends • Signed H. MoreauItem #1141 Here's a darling pair of 1930s French Art Deco Boxer bookends made by renown French sculptor H. Moreau. Each canine sits obediently on a gorgeous six-sided green, black and white marble base and is signed, "H. Moreau". The Measurements: |

1930s French Art Deco " Ondine" Bronze Sculpture • Pierre Le FaguaysItem #1122 We acquired this French 1930s bronze sculpture by Pierre Le Faguays (1892-1925) from a private French collector who told us that he originally bought the sculpture in the 1950's while shopping in Porte de Clignancourt. This is an important and artistically executed bronze statue of a beautiful nude female with draping named "Ondine". The enchanting, realistic face, the hands and the feet of this sculpture are intricately detailed and the (hefty!) bronze has taken on a gorgeous patina with age. The elaborate geometric stepped marble base consists at least 5 different kinds of marble. It is stunning in its own right and looks as though it were built for a 1930s Hollywood movie set. Needless to say, it's the perfect platform for this stunning beauty. The Measurements: Fayral and Guerbe were each pseudonyms used by the famous Pierre Le Faguays. Fayral and Guerbe were the family names of his Mother and his Wife respectively. |

1930s French Art Deco "Scottie" Bookends • Signed U.J. BornesItem #1109 I'm really drawn these unusual bookends. They possess a quintessential Scottie silhouette with "drawing-like" dimensional details. They're carved from wood and as such, have an expectedly warm feel to them. They're commanding, yet adorable. Yes, somehow, they're just right. A loving, 1930s French Art Deco tribute to "Man's Best Friend". One of the two bookends is signed by the French artist/sculptor - U.J. Bornes. 1930s Bronze Plate with Nautical Theme • Signed - P Le FaguaysItem #1085 This spectacular and very heavy brass and bronze plate with a deep, rich patina is actually more of a sculpture than it is a plate. Depicted is a nautical scene of a majestic and beautiful sailing ship surrounded by seven seagulls. It was created and signed by Pierre Le Faguays (1892-1925). Pierre Le Faguays was born in Nantes, France in 1892. He was not only a talented sculptor, but also a leading member of the committee for the 1925 Paris Exhibition. He was awarded a medal of honor for his work in 1927. His best friend, Max Le Verrier (of the Le Verrier Foundry) made most of (if not all of) his pieces. The Measurements: |

1930s French Metal Panther Sculpture • Signed RochardItem #1076 Here we have a mesmerizing 1930s metal statue of a growling panther by Irénée Rochard (1906-1984). Notice the unusual, natural pose and the manner in which the artist has captured this feline's strength and ferocity. The sculpture is made from a beautifully patinated metal and stands on a chamfered edged rectangular slab of beautiful marble which bears the signature "Rochard". Renown French animal sculptor, Irénée Rochard was born in Villefranche sur Saône in 1906 from an important family of artists. His painstaking artistry imparts a manner of intelligence to his sculpted animals and tends to bring out their personality, their gentleness or, as in this case, their fierceness. The Measurements: |

Art Deco Russian Dancer StatueItem #1041 This is one stunning, breath-taking work of art. A gilt and patinaed bronze statue of a female Russian dancer that is not only impeccably and minutely detailed but is virtually terpsichorean in and of itself. Like some of the greatest sculptures, this decorative object d'art has life and movement. This lovely smiling goddess-like Russian dancer stands on a platform of truly gorgeous stepped and contrasting marble slabs a full 16" tall. |
