Sweet Art Nouveau to Art Deco WMF silver-plate oil-vinegar cruets circa 1920Item #1393 It is always a treat to find something special like this. Not our typical art deco point of view, but I love to show this transition between Art Nouveau to Art Deco. WMF a German silver company was probably one of the best at doing this. They were so active during both of these periods and when you look at their pieces you can see the decorative design periods in the most obvious and refined way. What is also nice about this piece, it is in perfect original condition. The glass (crystal) is perfect on each piece, not a chip. I assume it was never used, probably a wedding gift that got tucked away somewhere. Also, very nice, we have the original advertisement from the WMF catalogue book. Silver holder, 3 glass pieces for oil, vinegar, salt and?????? Would look smart on any table setting or buffet, both in Art Deco style and earlier. Measurements: |

Stunning Pair of Art Deco 3 Arm candlesticksItem #1382 These photos do not do them justice. They just arrived and was in a hurry to get them on-line. Stunning pair of silver-plate candlesticks with black ebony ball. Great contrast between the gleaming silver-plate and the black accent. Nice 3X stepped base with 3 rings around candleholder. This is not a 3 ring circus. Would add a great touch of sophistication to your dinner table, serving piece or mantle. Measurements: |

Spectacular Sterling Art Deco Modernist CandlestickItem #1321 Striking candlestick made in '925" sterling in a modernist design. Circa 1930's clear mark and made of the finest materials. With a new polish you can see the great lines. Holds 5 candles and would make a brilliant centerpiece for any table or buffet. Not exactly sure of its history and origins, but there are some marks on the bottom that might give some definitive information as to who was the maker. Quality sterling piece for sure. |

Outstanding Art Deco Dinanderie vase with primitive motifItem #1320 This is a a remarkable but unsigned piece with a strong art deco cubist design. Nice metal vase with dinanderie patina. Outstanding Mappin & Webb English Silver-plate Art Deco Champagne Ice BucketItem #1311 Presented here is a stunning example of Moderne Art Deco design executed in a quality that is very rare not only today but even during the Art Deco period. This is a very heavy triple silver-plate ribbed design (very 3 dimensional) bucket made in England around 1930. Certainly comparable to Tiffany or International Silver. Mappin and Webb is a company originally founded in Sheffield, England. The company is a noted firm of Silversmiths and formerly cutlery manufactures with roots back to 1774 when Joseph Mappin (snr) founded the firm. The company is now a retail jeweler, and Royal Warrant holder. The Firm was taken over by Asprey & Co. in the 1980s, but was sold later. The company is now a brand owned by the Jewelers Goldsmiths group. Measurements: |

WMF 1920 Silver-plate Champagne Bucket Acorns DesignItem #1310 This stunning silver-plated champagne ice bucket was made in Germany by the famous WMF Company, between 1915 and 1920. It bridges both the Arts & Crafts (or in Germany the Art Nouveau) Movement leaning into the Art Deco design. You can see the natural decorative element of 'acorn & fern' with wonderful triangular darts in a very modern round shape. So this is where the two ideas come together nicely. Made in Germany by WMF and hallmarked as well. The WMF (Wurttemberg Metal Goods Factory) Company began operations in 1853 and is still one of the world's foremost manufacturers in silver tableware Measurements: |

Glass and Chrome Streamlined vase by RieckeItem #1294 A distinctive vase, fashioned of heavy etched glass with chrome handled accent. This is another of our collection of pieces that were once used, and perhaps sold, through the legendary La Coupole Restaurant in Paris. La Coupole was founded in 1927 and once a leading center of artistic life. La Coupole is now the epitome of the grand Paris brasserie in Montparnasse. Former patrons included Josephine Baker, Henry Miller, Dalí, Calder, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Picasso. Some of the artists painted on the columns, or added their creations to the decor. This glass vessel bears the signature of the artist A.Riecke, a Russian who lived and worked in Paris in 1937, the name and date are etched in the glass as part of the decorative detail. Stunning French Art Deco Fluted 4 Piece Coffee/Tea ServiceItem #1286 This has to be one of the nicest Art Deco Coffee/Tea sets we've had in years. Every detail is in place and the quality is outstanding. You only need to pick up a single piece to feel what I am talking about (both weight and balance together). Certainly comparable to any Christofle or Gallia French Art Deco service. All wood is dark solid rosewood and handles are fitted as one would expect from the best silversmiths of that period. In great original condition. Ready to be put into action without reservation. Look at the way the base is stepped to accommodate the fluted centers and yet both the coffee and tea pieces have unusually long handles. Obviously, someone meant to design this set as you can see. I suspect it must be an important French name. Measurements: |

Silver fluted Art Deco CandlesticksItem #1285 Here is a fun pair of very well designed candlesticks. They are from Argentina marked 925 silver. The design is very sophisticated, with nice metal work showing off the fluting all around the candle holders and echoed in the main vertical base as well. Obviously they were designed with the circle holder so you move them from to room to room. Very nicely made and quite symmetrical in the height and width of the design. Completely original with no repairs or required restoration. Measurements: |

Simple Art Nouveau silver plate metal urnsItem #1284 This pair of Art Nouveau silver plate urns and quite a little diversion for us here in Art Deco land. You can see that the simplicity of the design pointing towards the deco period, but these also have that Nouveau--craftsmen point of view as well. They are marked "Beldre" but I am not sure I am seeing this mark quite right. In any case, they are a classic design with a wonderful embossed stylized flower on neck of each piece. Measurements |

1930s Viennese Art Deco Serving Tray • CanelliItem #1219 This 1930s Art Deco Serving Tray is signed "Canelli" and it hails from the Argentor Metalworks in Vienna. As well, it is strongly reminiscent of the style of Austrian sculptor, Franz Hagenauer (1906-1986). It possesses a simple round chrome serving tray fitted with an anything-but-simple handle. A beautifully sculpted, ferocious ebony lioness with chrome tail and ears (and very pointy teeth) serves as the handle as she leaps across the tray and over the cocktails over and over and over again. The overall design offers a nice balance between textures and detail. From serving martinis to holding dinnerware/napkins, you'll find a multitude of uses for this tray and regardless of the use - you'll not want to let that leeping lion out of your sight! It is signed on the bottom of the tray - Canelli Argentor Vienna The Measurements:

1920s Art Deco Bronze Vase • Signed by Carl SorensonItem #1138 Here's a wonderful 1920s Arts & Crafts/Art Deco bronze vase with a distinguished verdigris patina finish by renown metalsmith artisan Carl Sorenson. This vase is in wonderful condition and was most likely used to hold flowers which resulted in some surface pitting and wear on the interior of the vase. This smaller vase is the perfect size for a desk or bedside table and could be used in fact to hold desk items rather than flowers. Either way, this beautiful 1920s bronze vase, with its flared trumpet shape, horizontal banding and pedestal foot has the elegance and simplicity of more contemporary pieces.
