Fabulous WMF German silver-plate coffee service 1930sItem #1561 I think you must be ready to have a tea party now. A set like this is a real eye catcher. Nice Art Deco shape with faceted corners on a round shape. Of course solid wood Rosewood handles with a very pleasing reverse 7 handle and matching top. This one is ready to go into service. The set bears the marks of the WMF silver company, the initials of the famous German foundry " Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik", most often simply called WMF. It was founded in the 1853 as a partnership between Daniel Straub and Josef and Friedrich Schweizer, and in 1892 developed a special technique for silver plating in which the silver coating is of double thickness in any parts that will be exposed to greater wear and tear. This patented process is called "Perfect Hard Silver Plating". In 1910, under the art direction of Albert Mayer, WMF became famous for its Art Nouveau style and established companies for world wide exports in London, Warsaw and Vienna. Many pieces were sent to Argentina between 1910 and 1930, and it is likely that Harrods Department Store which opened in Buenos Aires in 1912 was one of the major importers of decorative pieces such as this tea and coffee set. The set consists of the following pieces: coffee, tea, sugar, creamer and tray all original. Measurements: |

WMF 1920 Silver-plate Champagne Bucket Acorns DesignItem #1310 This stunning silver-plated champagne ice bucket was made in Germany by the famous WMF Company, between 1915 and 1920. It bridges both the Arts & Crafts (or in Germany the Art Nouveau) Movement leaning into the Art Deco design. You can see the natural decorative element of 'acorn & fern' with wonderful triangular darts in a very modern round shape. So this is where the two ideas come together nicely. Made in Germany by WMF and hallmarked as well. The WMF (Wurttemberg Metal Goods Factory) Company began operations in 1853 and is still one of the world's foremost manufacturers in silver tableware Measurements: |

Glass and Chrome Streamlined vase by RieckeItem #1294 A distinctive vase, fashioned of heavy etched glass with chrome handled accent. This is another of our collection of pieces that were once used, and perhaps sold, through the legendary La Coupole Restaurant in Paris. La Coupole was founded in 1927 and once a leading center of artistic life. La Coupole is now the epitome of the grand Paris brasserie in Montparnasse. Former patrons included Josephine Baker, Henry Miller, Dalí, Calder, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Picasso. Some of the artists painted on the columns, or added their creations to the decor. This glass vessel bears the signature of the artist A.Riecke, a Russian who lived and worked in Paris in 1937, the name and date are etched in the glass as part of the decorative detail. Certainly comparable to any Christofle or Gallia French Art Deco service. All wood is dark solid rosewood and handles are fitted as one would expect from the best silversmiths of that period. In great original condition. Ready to be put into action without reservation. 1930s Viennese Art Deco Serving Tray • CanelliItem #1219 This 1930s Art Deco Serving Tray is signed "Canelli" and it hails from the Argentor Metalworks in Vienna. As well, it is strongly reminiscent of the style of Austrian sculptor, Franz Hagenauer (1906-1986). It possesses a simple round chrome serving tray fitted with an anything-but-simple handle. A beautifully sculpted, ferocious ebony lioness with chrome tail and ears (and very pointy teeth) serves as the handle as she leaps across the tray and over the cocktails over and over and over again. The overall design offers a nice balance between textures and detail. From serving martinis to holding dinnerware/napkins, you'll find a multitude of uses for this tray and regardless of the use - you'll not want to let that leeping lion out of your sight! This smaller vase is the perfect size for a desk or bedside table and could be used in fact to hold desk items rather than flowers. Either way, this beautiful 1920s bronze vase, with its flared trumpet shape, horizontal banding and pedestal foot has the elegance and simplicity of more contemporary pieces.
